Abstract: A spherical model for solid state reactions controlled by diffusion has been developed in this paper. Two equations between the conversion ratio and reaction time and temperature were derived from the model. The equations were tested by the solid state reaction of Synthesis of Si_3N_4 from silicon and nitrogen. The results show that the model is applicable for solid state reactions controlled by diffusion.
