Thermal Decomposition Kinetic Model of Phenolic Resin

Abstract: A method used for the study of thermal decomposition kinetics by peak analysis was developed. This method needs only a few eigenvalues of the thermogravimetric mass loss curves for the determination of kinetic parameters. A peak separation was performed to separate the thermal decomposition of phenolic resin into three stages according to the characteristic of the experimental differential mass loss curve. Kinetic parameters for each stage were determined using peak analysis method. A decomposition kinetic model, which was shown to accurately describe the decomposition process of phenolic resin, was obtained by the combination of these three stages.
