Volume and Surface Properties of Aqueous [C5mim][Pro] at 288.15 to 318.15 K

Abstract:

The density and surface tension of aqueous 1-pentyl-3-methylimidazoliumpropionate ([C5mim][Pro]) of various molarities were determined at 288.15 to 318.15 K, and the coefficient of thermal expansion, the apparent molar volume, and the parachor for these solutions were calculated. The values of the apparent molar expansibility of solute obtained fromdata of the apparent molar volume are in good agreement with the values calculated by Harned-Owen equation.The empirical equation of the parachor was used to estimate the parachor and surface tensions of the solutions. Estimated values were within the experimental error of experimental values.
