Hydrogenation of Chlorophyll Over Carbon Nanotubessupported Nickel Catalyst at Normal Temperature and Pressure

Abstract: The catalytic performance of carbon nanotubessupported nickel catalyst for the hydrogenation of Chlorophyll at normal temperature and pressure was studied.The catalyst was characterized by TEM and FTIR. The results showed that preoxidation of carbon nanotubes by boiling nitric acid could create functional groups, such as -OH and -COOH, and enhanced the dispersion of Ni, thus leading to a rise in catalytic activity. Activity test also showed that the catalyst with 7% Ni loading is the most effective in the hydrogenation reaction.
