The Steady State Properties of Electrochemical Reduction of C60

Abstract: The electroreduction of C_(60) was investigated by microelectrode voltammetry and in-situ optically transparent thin layer electrode technique(OTTLE). From the mea-surements of steady-state polarization curves and the absorbance dependence of C_(60) on reduction potentials, it is found that the electroreduction of C_(60) occurs in a succes-sive three step one-electron reduction. The diffusion coefficient and standard equilib-rium potential were evaluated to be 5.3×10~(-6)cm~2·s~(-1) and -0.40±0.02 V(vs. Ag/AgCl) respectively.
