Surface Tension and Density of NaCl-NaF-RE2O3 Melts

Abstract: Surface tension and density of NaCl-NaF-RE_2O_3 melts have been measured by means of maximum buble pressure and Archimedes methods. The results are expressed by two mathematic models. Mass fraction of RE_2O_3 in the melts from 0.0 to 0.6% and that of NaF/NaCl, 50—90%. This investigation shows that there might be complexes in the melts. The information obtained can be used as a reference in the preparation of Al-RE alloys.
