Abstract: In this paper, the spectra of absorption, fluorescence excitation and fluorescence emission for the ethanol solutions of sodium fluorescein at various pH values were observed and their fluorescence lifetimes were also measured. From these results, the existence of different modifications of sodium fluorescein in the ethanol solution and their protolytic reactions were discussed.
