Abstract: Electrooxidation behavior of ethylene glycol (EG) at the Pt-WO3//C and Pt/C electrodes was investigated using cyclic voltammogram(CV) and linear sweeping voltammogram(LSV) techniques. It was found that the electrocatalytic activity of the Pt-WO3//C electrode for electrooxidation of EG was higher than that of the Pt/C electrode. The higher electrocatalytic activity of the Pt-WO3//C was due to that WO3/ could supply the oxygen-containingspecies necessary for the electrooxidation of EG, and WO3/ could reduce the adsorption intensity of CO at Pt, which was an intermediate of the electrooxidation of EG.
