Abstract: Both positive and negative aluminum cluster ions were generated by laser ablation of AIN sample. Their mass distributions were analyzed using a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The magic numbers are 7, 14 and 23 for cluster cations, and 13, 23, 63 for anions. They all agree very well with spherical jellium model.
