Abstract: The development of efficient electromagnetic interference shielding materials with absorption-dominated characteristics is an effective strategy for mitigating the electromagnetic pollution. In this work, a three-dimensional porous carbon nanotube/iodine-doped reduced graphene oxide sample (CIR) with absorption-dominated behavior was fabricated by a facile and controllable chemical reduction method. Iodine doping effectively regulated the local electronic structure of graphene by introducing I3- and I5- ions, thereby enhancing the overall electrical conductivity. The amount of reducing agent was adjusted to optimize the formation of the three-dimensional conductive network and porous architecture. Meanwhile, the incorporation of a small amount of carbon nanotubes further reinforced the conductive pathways. Accordingly, the CIR sample exhibited excellent electromagnetic shielding performance with absorption-dominated behavior. This behavior was attributed to conductive loss arising from its high electrical conductivity, as well as multiple reflection and scattering induced by the porous structure. The results show that CIR exhibits an average electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness of 92.5 dB in the X-band (8.2-12.4 GHz), an absolute shielding effectiveness (SSEt) of 10460.72 dB cm2 g-1, and a green index (GI) of 3.3. Moreover, the absorption coefficient is 0.76, confirming that the shielding performance is dominated by absorption.
