Abstract:

The glass-ceramics of CaO-MgO-Fe2O3-Al2O3-SiO2 slag was prepared. Crystallization kinetics parameter and activation energy of the system were investigated by the kinetics theory and DTA technique. The crystallization mechanism of two-dimensional crystal growth and m=n=2 was determined. The activation energy calculated was 272.6 kJ•mol-1. The microstructure obtained by the SEM technique indicated that the mechanism of crystal growth is in good agreement with the result predicted.
